Took a trip out to Westonbirt Arboretum the other week to catch some of the stunning autumn colours on display there. It was an unusually bright and very warm October day as we arrived around 3-ish but we were not alone, it was heaving with people! From screaming kids and lose dogs to the elderly there to enjoy the scenery on a nice afternoon. I am not a fan of placing my [tripod] feet where many others have but it seemed virtually impossible to avoid given the numbers of camera toting people about, though I did witness numerous ‘interesting’ camera handlings…
…as usual I was looking for something different in what I saw around me. We found a field off to the edge of the arboretum grounds and let the dog charge around away from people(!), which actually worked out in our favour. As the day gave way to a slowly setting sun which pushed its way through the branches and leaves, creating interesting patterns and side-lighting that really did change the laden trees in their last push of colour before shedding all the leaves for winter. Stunning!
