
This is Kilve Pill in Somerset
, an interesting place geologically speaking where rocks have formed slanted layers, one on top of the other in a curved, almost semi-circular formation as though a pile of plates had toppled sideways and each one stayed overlapping one next. If you hunt around enough its possible to find fossils in the smaller rocks, broken off the main layer due to water erosion, some fossils are quite big. I think the most common type I have come across is
Ammonite but of course there may be others, I’m no expert but its amazing to think how long ago these creatures lived and swam in the seas on this planet…
