One from a warmer time. Whilst looking through my images and culling editing them with a more critical eye, a sort of spring-clean if you will, I have unearthed a few gems that I hope to refine and post in due course, until then enjoy this view from last year during the warmer months…bit of a far cry from the last image!

A break away from the landscape view to one of a more intimate nature. Ardnamurchan forms the northern edge of Loch Sunart, along the shoreline can be found great swaths of seaweed clinging to dark rocks beneath. What struck me was the intense yellow colour it had, especially notable on a gloomy day. By chance a patch of blue sky opened up directly above me and I quickly set up to create this image of the contrasting colours and layers as they appeared before me. Despite the frenetic placement of the seaweed there’s something calming about the way they’re held in place by the water…

After the wander along the shore I found myself in another dense woodland, discovering this little gem quietly eking out its life in the crook of a heavily coated tree’s branch, it certainly pays to take it slowly and look carefully at what’s around

Well, it’s not sunrise (see earlier post) but applying the same principles and adding a little guess-work (in terms of timing) its possible to judge the best angle to catch the best light of sunset. In this case I was around 135 degrees to the sun (thats a bit further round than completely side-on) and as you can see I was also given a beautiful cloud formation without which the scene would have been rather uninteresting I believe. So, there’s being prepared and there’s adapting to what’s occuring around you to take advantage of it…I even spied an early poppy!!

Found an absolute gem the other week, Hooke Park in Dorset. Simply incredible. Bluebells as far as the trees allow your to see over slowly rolling hillocks and twists and turns. Ended up spending hours wandering around trying to find some good vantage points for some shots, which despite what you may think was not as easy as all that. Trying to find a decent spot that has some visual appeal rather than just a blanket of bluebells within the trees is a challenge but as the sun dipped and the light became slightly softer I managed to find some compositions that worked, as well as the odd experimental shot too.
