red balloon
Seeing this balloon reminded me of one of my favourite stories by french film maker Albert Lamorisse made in 1956 ago about a boy who befriends a red balloon. The simple yet beautiful story earnt the director an Oscar and Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Although the exact stroy is sketchy in my mind, what I do remember is the vivid red balloon following the boy around the streets of Paris as he experiences life’s little twists. There have been many critics applying their own ideas as to what the story may imply but my favourite is the red balloon signifies our imagination and inspiration and although we may be separated from it occasionally we end up together in the end.

I really like the idea behind this shot. Great story.
I love the shot too, although I’d maybe like to see the balloon slightly bigger in the frame. Positioning is spot on, and I just love the simplicity of it.
