The container you have found is an active pinhole camera, it has no lens, no mechanical shutter and no digital screen.

The small hole on the front allows natural light to slowly burn a single image onto the photographic material contained inside, it will remain in place throughout the regatta creating a ‘temporal record’ of the event.
