Team Italia Henley 2026
This summer I was contacted by the Italian Rowing Federation (Federazione Italiana Canottaggio) to work with them as the official team photographer during their campaign at Henley Royal Regatta, an opportunity I was only too happy to accept.
The squad brought an elite roster to the UK, including reigning World Champions and Olympians, to test their speed in Henley's legendary, unforgiving knock-out format. Drawing on my years of experience shooting on the Henley reach, I knew exactly how demanding the course can be.
While their side-by-side racing was exceptional to witness, they were simply a super bunch of people to be around. From day one, this world-class squad and their brilliant support team welcomed me entirely, making my job fun and completely unforgettable. I was absolutely thrilled to receive such high praise as I delivered the results each day. While the official race photos were sent out during the event, I wanted to share a few of the quieter behind-the-scenes moments with the team that perhaps didn’t see the light of day at the time.
Whilst focused and professional in the boats, the moment they stepped off the water, they were chilled, charming, and undeniably fashionable—without a doubt the most stylish team on the Henley reach, and always up for a quick photo! Documenting their progress was inspiring, with well-fought battles culminating in historic victories in the Hambledon Pairs (Elite Women’s pairs) and Queen Mother (Elite men’s quad) events. This same men’s quad would go on to cement their place on the world stage by winning the Rowing World Championships.
Watching them experience the magic, crowds, and historic traditions of Henley was a real highlight. My heartfelt thanks to the whole team of athletes, coaches, and support staff for their help. I look forward to working with them again soon. Forza Italia!
