When I see that you are straight and ready
This is very much an unrepeatable shot, which I feel lucky to have caught as it’s unlikely a view of this sort will ever occur again. In 2021 Henley Royal Regatta held a very much cut-down event following a cancelled event the previous year, and unusually took place in August. As I looked down the course - positioned a long way back from behind the start - I had a much cleaner view, free of the somewhat unsightly and distracting tents that usually spread across the fields beside the start line. I waited patiently for the moment I was hoping to capture; the fleeting second the race Umpire holds the red flag aloft before dropping it to begin the race. I’m pleased to have timed this shot to perfection.
